FOCAS Haiti...
- Pray for the people of Haiti: A destructive earthquake ( over 7.0) hit our service area in Petionville and Port au Prince on Jan 12th creating massive damage, death, and confusion. Please pray for our friends there. FOCAS is evaluating the possibility of sending a medical team sometime in Mar. as we learn more. See the FOCAS HEART initiative below. - HAITI – Bulletin 4 Our friend Tom Davis of Food for the Hungry (FH), visited Pastor Moliere and Callebasse and sent us some pictures. A lot of damage, which will require a lot of work, but it is not as bad as I expected. And FH is working to get private and USAID funds to help in the clinic and some other projects there. Praise God!! Great news in an e-mail from our coordinator of school programs, Maxeau. It appears that no sponsored children were killed in the earthquake. Of the approximately 800 children in FOCAS supported schools, one unsponsored child at Callebasse was killed. We are sad for her, but delighted about the other 799. Many homes damaged, some destroyed. So, continue to pray for Haiti and the many needs there.
- FOCAS Haiti Earthquake Aid & Relief Transformation(HEART) Initiative - FOCAS is responding by creating the Haiti Earthquake Aid and Relief Transformation (HEART) initiative to bring relief and rebuilding to the people in our service area near Port Au Prince (PAP).FOCAS invites you to hear if the Lord is leading you to support FOCAS' in its mission to share the love of God to Haitians living in Petionville, Callabasse, and Port au Prince through delivering medical treatment, food, water, reconstruction material, funding, and the gospel. This will be our immediate focus for the next 6 to 12 months. If you are a doctor, nurse, or EMT qualified and interested in going on a medical mission trip in March please contact us. We expect there to be very limited accommodations. Please donate online (see FOCAS OnLine Giving link at top under Donate Now) and we will send money to Haiti per our HEART objectives in the FOCAS service area.
- FOCAS Haiti Earthquake Aid & Relief Transformation Trip - Tentatively scheduled for Mar. 13th - 21st. Cost is about $900 PLUS airfare. This is a medical mission team for medical personnel only who have been on mission teams before. Contact Scott at sbowers@focas-us.org. This trip and date(s) is subject to change without notice as details are worked out. Expect to be roughing it.
