In about three (3) months, we will have our first of three Lord’s Gym Community Awareness Breakfast events. They are: Thursday, September 23rd at the Kenwood Country Club, Thursday, September 30th, at the Westin Hotel Downtown and Thursday, October 7th, at the Sharonville Convention Center As you may know, it is through these fundraisers and matching funds that we raise between 70 – 80 percent of our annual operating revenue. The key is to have individuals who appreciate what God is doing in Over the Rhine and who is willing to invite friends, colleagues, and family members to join them at one of these events. Praying and working together, we can have successful events and reach our financial goal of $320,000. Will you be part of the team of 85 table hosts this fall?

FOCAS Haiti Earthquake Aid & Relief Transformation Trip: Haiti Update from Dick Taylor – I just returned from Haiti with a group of 17 men, mostly Sigma Chi’s from the University of Cincinnati. It was a great trip and life changing for those of us that went. I want to give you a quick picture of what I experienced there: The Haitians are adapting to the difficult times. Tent cities everywhere and they are receiving basics. Like Portolets and clean water and some food. I expect most of them to be there for a long while.Clean up is beginning and there is recycling, but there is a massive task ahead.Very little major rebuilding yet. It will start and will take years.

I was very pleased to see real progress on our FOCAS HEART (Haiti Earthquake Aid and Relief Transformation) efforts. The repair of the cistern at Calebasse was completed, the repair of the Mont Marre Roseaux cistern kicked-off, and repair of the Calebasse Elementary School begun by our team to be completed by Haitians. This is in addition to the March Medical Team. Praise God!! With your help we are making a difference. At the request of two partner organizations, and considering the incredible need, I have agreed to help them get funding for more relief and restoration work. We are calling it HEART Act II and you will hear more as the projects are developed Plans are getting firm for the next trip (Haiti 43, Aug. 7-15), which includes medical, construction and children’s outreach. We could probably squeeze one or two more in if you feel God is telling you to go.
- FOCAS Haiti Earthquake Aid & Relief Transformation(HEART) Initiative - The destructive earthquake (over 7.0) hit our service area in Petionville and Port au Prince on January 12th creating massive damage, death, and confusion. FOCAS is responding by creating the Haiti Earthquake Aid and Relief Transformation (HEART) initiative to bring relief and rebuilding to the people we serve. FOCAS invites you to hear if the Lord is leading you to support FOCAS' in its mission to share the love of God to Haitians living in Petionville, Callabasse, and Port au Prince through delivering medical treatment, food, water, reconstruction materials, funding and the gospel.this will be our immediate focus for the next 6 to 12 months. You can donate online (see FOCAS OnLine Giving link at top under Donate Now) or mail to FOCAS, PO Box 428760, Cincinnati OH 45242, and we will use it for our HEART objectives in the FOCAS service area.
- Haiti 41 March 2010 Medical Team - Our Team went to Haiti in March and treated 2,000 people in six days in the Bellevue La Montange rural region outisde of Port au Prince. And, 45 people made decisions to receive Christ. However, there is still much to do and FOCAS is making plans to help with the rebuilding of water cisterns, schools, and churches in the Callebasse area and Mont Marre Roseaux. The Haiti Heart funds helped to buy medicine for this trip and will be used to help with the rebuilding effort. Please pray for our friends there. See pictures below. Haiti 44 – And, plans are beginning to settle out for another medical, light construction and outreach mission’s trip next winter. Tentative dates are Nov. 27 – Dec. 5, 2010. An alternate date in early January is also being considered, so contact Dick Taylor if you have an interest.
